WHAT IS CARDIAC MONITORING?
Cardiac Event Monitoring is a continuous loop, digital memory recorder worn for extended periods of time (up to 30 days or more) that can save transient events felt by the patient at any time. Because of the transient and infrequent nature of these symptoms, this is the perfect tool for documenting symptoms that are missed on a 24-hour Holter monitor.
Event monitoring is also extremely valuable in evaluating drug efficacy (both effect and "wash-out") for all cardiac-related drugs. Pharmaceutical manufacturers will find this tool helpful and cost effective in ruling in/out potential subjects for new drug trials.
Post-surgery SVBG and angioplasty patients can be followed effectively for cardiac arrhythmias and electrophysiologic changes with event monitoring. It is also excellent for pacemaker follow-ups, ablation procedures and ICD evaluations.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
At the onset of a symptom (flutters, dizziness, SVT, pre-syncopal episodes, etc.) the patient simply presses a button on the recorder, which can be programmed to record up to ten events with a total of five minutes. Depending on how the recorder is programmed, up to four minutes prior to pressing the event button and up to two minutes following can be saved and retrieved.
The patient immediately calls the monitoring center’s 24-hour service and transmits the stored ECG over any telephone. The recorder memory is then erased from the recorder, and the patient can continue to record any future events. The patient will get immediate, one-on-one service with a human, not a machine!
Event recorders are small, lightweight and easy to use. Only two disposable electrodes placed on the patient’s chest are required.
